How to hide hard drive partition?

Many users want their data to be unavailable to any other person that has access to the same computer. To prevent accessing personal data there are so many ways: simply hide the files and folders, encrypt data, use password protected accounts or move data on a removable media. A good privacy solution would be hiding the partition that holds the incriminatory data. Here is the method to hide the hard disk partition:

  • Download Tweak UI from here and install this application in your computer
  • Click on My Computer in the left hand side panel and select Drives
  • Now if you look at the right hand side panel you'll see your drives along with checkboxes. Uncheck the drive that you want to hide and click on Apply at the bottom and then click OK.

Here is the screenshot
To access hidden partition just type the address of the drive in address bar and hit Enter. For eg. if you hide E:\ drive and whenever you want to access my E:\ drive, just open My Computer and in the address bar type E:\ and hit enter.

The other method is-
  • Go to Start –> Run –>gpedit.msc

  • Go to User Configuration –> Administration Template –> Windows Components –> Windows Explorer

  • now on the right side, look for the policy that says, “Hide these specific drives in my computer” and go to Properties

  • Enable it and then select the drives you wan to hide

Click Ok ,and you are done
